Mr Sutton introduced me to an oncology nurse called Cherry and sat me down to say that he'd like to do a biopsy of my nipple to send off tissue samples to the lab for analysing.
Ok, no problem. I'm not a fan of needles but I can do this. Had a shot of anaesthetic into the nipple and Mr Sutton proceeded to scrape off tissue with a scalpel. He got three lots of samples into small tubes before putting in a little stitch and patching me back up. (I'd been wearing little sticky dressings for a couple of months)
That wasn't so bad. Hopefully they would check out the samples and say we're all being silly and send me home with a course of antibiotics to clear this little problem up.
I left wishing they could take a look under the microscope then and there, but staying positive and carefree about it all. My follow up appointment for the results was scheduled a week from then at the same time.
