Hospital Beauty Regime

Hi everyone! (Well, this post is really for the girls!) On Wednesday, I had my mastectomy and immediate reconstruction using muscle, tissue and skin from my back. Everything went well and so far so good with the healing. I'm a bit sore, but the nurses at RUH are wonderful and very generous with pain relief.

I've been pretty tired, so I've only managed one film in two sessions and haven't read any of my books yet. I'm pretty high most of the time and swear I've seen things move! Ha ha!

Knowing I'd have some time on my hands, I did bring a few special toiletries and my makeup kit. The nurses have had a chuckle watching me pampering myself while off my head on painkillers. Thankfully my 'look' has turned out OK!

I felt pretty energised this morning so managed to get up and have a wash, sort my hair and makeup. I'm using an assortment of my favourite products.

I'm in for a week so washing my hair is out. I wanted to use something that would keep my hair clean, but not dry it out like the usual Bastiste dry shampoo usually does. I'm using Aveda Shampure which smells amazing and leaves my hair feeling soft and clean. It's a powder, so easy to sprinkle small amounts instead of blasting your hair with a spray.

After a good wash down, Fit Pit is my new go-to deodorant. It's all natural with no nasty chemicals and it really does work. (Thanks John and Claire Ashton for the recommendation - it's my second tub!)

I also use Nivea wipes and am actually going to start using Nivea creams alongside some of my other faves like Aveeno. They are tried and tested and the smell is divine.

Having received this big tester tube of Elemis face cream, in a subscription box, I'm having a go and finding it's a winner. Dangerous for me as I'll want to explore more of the range which is a bit pricey.

One of my favourite sets from Benefit is the 'How to Look the Best at Everything' box of magic! It contains a fab foundation, two concealers, a pore minimiser, a brush and a compact powder. Everything you need for a flawless face.

I use lots of Benefit as you can see, bronzer and blusher, but Nars Orgasm is my favourite blush as it has a peachy shimmer in it!

Although my eyebrows are half tattooed now, I still fill them in with Shavata duo eyebrow pencil, use eyeliner by London and Berry or Rimmel, and finish off with Benefit mascara.

Last thing I do is a quick spray of Mac's Fix + setting spray.

Oh - and while in hospital, I'm wearing a light lipstick by Mac called Satin Peach Stock and lining my lips with a light brown brow pencil. He he!

Well, it's nearly time to take it all off now and start my night time regime. Clean my face, bit of toner, then 3 drops of Kiehls Midnight Recovery which leaves your face feeling super soft and smells heavenly! I may spritz the air with my Liquid Yoga space spray before taking my last shot of morphine for the night and settle down for some beauty sleep.

I'll be posting again soon to let you know how things are going with my hospital stay and healing. So far, Mr Sutton has let me know that the operation went very well and they didn't find any more tumours in what they removed. It looks like I might be out of hospital on Monday, for good behaviour. 😉

Thanks for reading,

Sarah X
